Indonesia Spice Heritage

Since the ancient trade, Indonesian archipelago has been known as the notable source of world spices. Indonesia’s enourmous spice diversity and high quality flavors is the reflection of its unique archipelagic ecological landscape, stretched across the equator line intertwined with the ring of fire of volcanic mountains. Enriched with the indigenous knowledge on edible ingredients and in-depth culinary traditions in over 700 ethnic groups, Indonesian archipelago has seen and used over a hundred types of spices. Javara spice collection has been launched to celebrate and bring to the world, Indonesia’s heritage spices, including the rare and forgotten ones. We work directly with local farmers and indigenous communities to identify and bring the best of Indonesian spices.
