Wellness has long been interpreted by many people as simple as health. Nowadays, wellness is more than just health. The term wellness has developed to a broader scope as a response to the global situations including changes in economy, demographic, technology, as well as environment.
People are now more conscious about their well-being as they are faced with various physical and mental health problems due to the vast changes occurring in various sectors all around the world. This has also driven the wellness industry to flourish, as people are now seeking ways to fulfill their well-being.
Wellness has now transformed into holistic health which includes 6 dimensions: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental. These dimensions of wellness have become the force of the wellness economy which covers sectors including wellness real estate, workplace wellness, wellness tourism, spa economy, mineral springs, physical activity, healthy eating, personal care & beauty, preventive & personalized medicine, and traditional & complementary medicine.
In response to the global rise of the wellness economy, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (MOTCE) in collaboration with Indonesia Wellness Institute and The Government of Surakarta/Solo will hold the International Wellness Tourism Conference & Festival (IWTCF) 2022 as one of the G20 Summit Side events.
